TIPS:
- Instead of elderflower cordial you can add about 4 elderflower heads and 4 tbsp sugar or raw honey to your jar. Make sure to only use the flowers and remove the green stalks. Also, your lemonade may have to infuse for half an hour or so to take on the flavours.
- Instead regular ice cubes, you can freeze some of your elderflower cordial in an ice cube tray and use those instead. You'll probably need some less elderflower syrup in that case.
- To substitute lemon, use lime.
- To substitute mint leaves, use lemon balm leaves.
- Instead of citrus fruit, you can add about 1 cup of fresh or frozen strawberries to the lemonade.
- You can also add frozen berries to your lemonade, without omitting any of the listed ingredients.
- Another option would be to make iced tea and add in your elderflower cordial.
- If needed, use reusable straws! They are great alternatives to plastic, such as glass, stainless steel or bamboo.
