So.
After a long, long time (almost three years!) I am continuing my banana
split themed recipes on the blog. After the "classic" raw vegan banana split ice cream dessert, a healthy banana split breakfast and even banana split oatmeal I went on to make a summery Banana Split Smoothie (Bowl).
Not only does this look great, it also tastes pretty rad. Plus: it's sugar-free, and vegan of course!

"BANANA SPLIT" SMOOTHIE
Preparation time: 15 mins
Main ingredients: banana, strawberry, cacao
difficulty level: easy
serves: 3
suitable for: vegan, lactose-free, gluten-free, nut-free, low-fat, sugar-free
Ingredients
Vanilla layer:
1/2 cup plant-milk
1/3 cup plain soy yogurt (you can use your own homemade soy yogurt)
1 banana, fresh or frozen
1 tbsp nut butter (I use almond butter)
1-2 tsp vanilla essence
(optional) 1 Medjool date, pitted
Strawberry layer:
1/2 cup plant-milk
1/3 cup plain soy yogurt (you can use your own homemade soy yogurt)
2/3 cup cup strawberries, fresh or frozen
(optional) 1 Medjool date, pitted
Chocolate layer:
1/2 cup plant-milk
1/3 cup plain soy yogurt (you can use your own homemade soy yogurt)
2 tbsp cacao powder
1 banana, fresh or frozen
(optional) 1 Medjool date, pitted
pinch of salt
Toppings:
vegan whipped cream
fresh cherries and/or strawberries, sliced
cacao nibs or chopped vegan chocolate
chopped walnuts or almonds
also:
1 just ripe banana
Instructions
First, prepare your smoothie glass by peeling a just ripe banana and cutting it in half. Then slice the two halves in half lengthwise – that way you have four pieces. Slide banana wedges down into your serving glass(es), and slightly push them onto the wall to "attach" them to the glass.
Vanilla layer: Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into your prepared serving glass(es) or bowl(s).
Strawberry layer: Add all ingredients in your blender (no need to clean it in-between since we are going from a light colour to a darker one). Blend until smooth, and pour it on top of the vanilla layer.
Chocolate layer: Again, blend all ingredients in your blender and remember, there's no need to rinse the blender in-between. Evenly pour it on top of the strawberry layer.
Top with whipped cream, fruit slices, cacao nibs or chips, and crushed nuts, if desired.
